ELKVILLE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's tennis team completed a community service project Wednesday, helping with the after school program at Elkville Civic Center in Elkville, Ill.
The Salukis assisted the staff with recreation activities for the 50 kids in the program. In addition to playing kickball, creating arts and crafts, and serving snacks, the Salukis also took time out to answer questions from eager children.
"It was a very rewarding experience for us as a team to hang out with the kids of this community," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "Sometimes I think as athletes, we forget what a role model we are for the area youth until you really get to work with them."
