Men's cross country finishes 14th in Pre-Nationals

Terre Haute, Ind. - Mohamed Mohamed led the SIU men's cross country team to a 14th place overall finish at Pre-Nationals on the campus of Indiana State University on Saturday.
The Salukis were 14th out of 35 teams in the men's 8K white race with 416 points. Stanford came in first followed by Colorado and Brigham Young University.
Mohamed Mohamed came in 37th overall with a time of 24:20.9 while Jeff Schirmer finished next for the Salukis in 47th with a time of 24:30.3.
"Our goal was to finish in the top 10 and we fell short of that," Head coach Matt Sparks said. "We were hoping that Jeff Schirmer who was an All-American last year would finish in the top 25 but he fell short of that as well."
Dan Dunbar came in 89th 25:00.4 while Kyle Kirchner finished 102nd with a time of 25:09.4 and Neal Anderson rounded out the top five finishers for the Salukis with a 121nd place finish at 25:34.5.
Jason Ordway (172nd, 25:58.8) and Greg McBride (176th, 26:01.5) also competed for the Salukis.
This was the team's final race before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships which will be held at Bradley University on Oct. 31.
