Women's Tennis continues play at ITA Central Regionals

NORMAN, Okla. - Sophomore Vishakha Sheoran moved on to the consolation quarterfinals as play continued at the ITA Central Regionals Friday in Norman, Okla.
Sheoran, a native of New Delhi, India, received a first round bye. She used that bye to her advantage, outlasting Oklahoma State's Alexandra Cristello in tiebreakers 2-6, 6-2, 1-0(6).
In doubles, Sheoran and her partner, freshman Melanie Delsart, were eliminated from the main draw by Alexa Palen and Magdalena Wiecha of Minnesota, 8-3.
In the other doubles match for SIU, Jessica Flannery and Jennifer Dien won their single round consolation match, defeating Sarah Septien and Caitlin McKenna of Saint Louis, 8-3.
On the singles side, two other Salukis competed in consolation matches.
Delsart was narrowly bested by Oklahoma's Kristina Radan 6-3, 7-6, while Dien also lost in straight sets, falling to Jie Zeng of Tulsa 6-2, 6-2.
