Women's Tennis finishes play at ITA Central Regionals

NORMAN, Okla. - The SIU women's tennis team ended play at the ITA Central Regionals in Norman, Okla., as Vishakha Sheoran was eliminated from the consolation bracket Saturday.
Sheoran, who moved on to the consolation quarterfinals Friday, was defeated in straight sets by Arkansas' Claudine Paulson 6-1, 6-2.
"We don't get the chance very often to play this kind of competition, but Vishakha did raise her level today," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "Unfortunately, she didn't come out on the winning end. We need to see more competition like this."
With the end of competition in Norman, the team reached the end of their fall schedule. SIU will begin spring competition with a neutral site match against Marshall in Richmond, Ky., on January 29.
