CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois women's tennis head coach Audra Nothwehr has announced the signing of Korey Love for the 2010-11 season.
Love, a native of Port Orange, Fla., won the overall Florida High School state championship in 2009, in addition to earning the Daytona Beach News-Journal Player of the Year. Love also earned Orlando Varsity Central Female Athlete of the Week honors twice during the 2009 season.
Love is ranked 112th in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net and is also rated 208th in the United States Tennis Association's (USTA) U18 rankings.
"We are very excited to sign Korey," said Nothwehr. "She has a lot of experience coming out of the juniors, and proven herself time and time again by beating top players ranked above her."
"We look for Korey to help us out immediately in the top 6 singles lineup, as well as in doubles. She is truly a quality recruit."
In her career, Love has defeated two five-star recruits: Brittany Dublins, who committed to Miami, and Jenna Doerfler, who signed on with Central Florida. In addition, she defeated the International Tennis Federation's 900th ranked junior.
