Mattsson named MVC Swimmer of the Week

SAINT LOUIS, - Junior Therese Mattsson was named Missouri Valley Conference swimmer of the week.

Mattsson finished with a time of 23.67 in the 50 freestyle at the team's meet against Evansville last weekend. Her time ties the No. 5 best time in school history, putting her in the record books for the fifth time this season. Mattsson has won each of her events in the last four meets.

This marks the third time this season Mattsson was named swimmer of the week. Isabal Madeira and diver Emily Gable have also earned weekly honors this season. The team has grabbed swimmer of the week honors consecutively since returning from their Puerto Rico Training Trip in January.

The Salukis swept Evansville in every event, giving them a 4-1 overall record in dual meets. Southern Illinois will host the Missouri Valley Conference Championships Feb. 12-14 at the Rec Center pool.
