Women's Tennis opens play at Blue and Gray Classic

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The SIU women's tennis team began their fall season Friday in Montgomery, Ala., as they participated in the Auburn University-Montgomery Blue and Gray Tournament.
In doubles play, Jessica Flannery and Jennifer Dien notched a win in the first round of Doubles Flight #3, defeating Richole Berger and Brittany DeFelice of UAB, 8-7(3). However, the duo lost their semifinal match to Samford's Lindsey Mallory and Madelie Janse Van Rensberg, 8-4. Flannery and Dien will play tomorrow for third place in Flight #3.
In singles, Dien recorded the Salukis' lone win of the day, as she defeated Lauren Irick of Belmont in straight sets (6-1, 6-4).
