Women's Tennis has strong showing at MVC Individual Championships

NORMAL, Ill. - Melanie Delsart and Jennifer Dien (9-7) placed first, defeating Creighton's Kirshenbaum/Snyder, (8-3) in the flight 1 doubles.
Coach Nothwher said of the performance this weekend by her two sophomores, "Melanie and Jenn showed great poise today in their doubles final, coming back to win from being match point down. They showed great energy and executed the game plan to a 'T'. They beat some very strong doubles teams on the way to their conference championships."
In doubles flight 2 Anita Lee and Anastacia Simons placed fourth, losing to third-place finishers Maack/Esker, ISU (8-2).
In singles Melanie Delsart placed 7th in flight 1 losing to Bradley's Nicole Miller,(6-7, 6-4, 10-6). In singles flight 2, Anita Lee placed fifth, defeating Bradley's Sarah Rodefeld,(6-1, 6-0). Jennifer Dien placed second in singles flight 3 losing to Veronika Blaskova, WSU (0-6, 6-2, 6-0) who was champion of flight 3.
Women's Tennis Coach Audra Nothwher's comments after her teams performance at the MVC Individual Tournament, "Overall, I thought we played pretty well. We didn't always come out on the winning end, but we were in every single match. We're pretty banged up right now as a team, but we still competed hard. If we can get everyone healthy, we will be a team to reckon with in the conference."
