OMAHA, Neb. - The Saluki men's tennis team got off to a great start, but was unable to take home a win Saturday in Omaha, Neb., falling to Creighton, 4-3.
Southern won the doubles point for the third time in four matches, but only won two of six singles matches against the Bluejays. The only other time this season the Dawgs won the doubles point and lost the match was Feb. 28 against Northern Illinois.
Mpilo Migogo and Falk De Beenhouwer each registered two wins on the day. Migogo notched an incredible win in top singles, defeating CU's J.T. Christian in convincing fashion 6-2, 6-2. Christian had only lost one other singles match the entire spring season.
Meanwhile, De Beenhouwer captured his team-high ninth singles win of the year, toppling Gabe Nagy 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at the third spot.
Doubles saw the duo team up and down Ryan Norman and Bryan Lube, 8-5.
The only other Saluki win came in doubles, when Brandon Florez and Chikara Kidera beat the Bluejays' Christian and Billy Paluch, 8-6. The pair has now won eight of their past 10 matches together.
The Dawgs will return to action tomorrow, when they head to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on the Drake Bulldogs in an 11 a.m. match.
