Women's Tennis Tops Murray State, 5-2

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team dominated Murray State, winning 5-2. The Salukis, (5-1,0-0) once again swept doubles play while winning four of six in singles play.
Jennifer Dien battled back from a 6-1 deficit to win her match (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) at the No. 3 position. Ariadna Cairo Baza won her match at the No. 4 position, (6-3, 7-5) and improving to 4-1 on the year. Anastacia Simons won at the No. 6 position, (7-5, 6-1).
"This was our first match outside this year, after only two days practicing outside," said head coach Audra Nothwehr. "There was an adjustment period, but once we figured it out, it kind of worked to our advantage."
The Salukis swept doubles for the fourth time this season, improving to 15-3 on the year. Melanie Delsart and Korey Love defeated their Racer opponents (8-4), while Anastacia Simons and Anita Lee won their match 8-6. Arianda Cairo Baza and Jennifer Dien were paired together for the first time today and defeated their Racer counterparts (8-5) at the No. 3 position.
The Salukis begin a five match road swing beginning next week at SEMO, first match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
