ST. LOUIS - ESPN has notified the Missouri Valley Conference that Southern Illinois’ baseball game at Creighton on Sunday, April 21, will air ESPNU at 4 p.m. Central Time, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.
The contest will be played at TD Ameritrade Park, site of Creighton’s home contests and the annual home of the College World Series.
The April 21 telecast will be a rematch of the 2012 MVC Baseball Tournament title game in which Creighton edged the Salukis, 8-6, at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo. to earn the league’s automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
As part of its agreement with the Missouri Valley Conference, ESPN produces eight live events on ESPNU with six of those telecasts pre-determined as men’s basketball games.
In 2012-13, a total of seven men’s basketball contests are being produced for ESPNU, while the Southern Illinois at Creighton baseball contest will complete the league’s contracted slate of ESPNU telecasts.
On April 8, 2012, ESPN produced the Indiana State at Creighton baseball game for ESPNU, with regular-season champion Indiana State posting an 8-0 victory at TD Ameritrade Park.
