Women's Tennis sweeps Austin Peay and McKendree, 7-0

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team swept both Austin Peay and McKendree, 7-0, in a Friday doubleheader at Sportsblast.
The Salukis (6-1) have won six-straight matches and picked up their second and third sweeps of the season in dominating performances, winning every match-up in two sets.
In doubles competition against Austin Peay (0-5), Melanie Delsart and Anastacia Simons defeated Ornella Di Salvo and Andra Cornea, 8-1 at the No. 1 spot to improve to 18-2 on the season. Jennifer Dien and Natasha Tomishima bested their APSU counterparts, 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Southern continued to dominate the Governors in singles play. Delsart topped Allison Carre (6-0, 6-2) at No. 1 singles and Korey Love picked up her first two dual match wins of the year, besting her opponents (6-0, 6-0). Dien won her eighth straight match after defeating Javana Karac, (6-3, 6-0).
The Salukis picked up where they left off versus McKendree (1-1). Gisela Cairo Baza improved to 4-0 on the spring season after her 6-0, 7-5 win at the No. 4 spot. Abigail Plecki won her first dual match as a Saluki, besting her McKendree counterpart (6-1, 6-0).
Southern will be back in action March 12 when they travel to Miami, Fla. to take on Florida International.
