Zhang named MVC Diver of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill.- For the second week in a row, Southern Illinois University diver Kaixuan ‘Sherry’ Zhang was named Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Zhang took the accolade after another strong showing, this time against Missouri State on Oct. 11. This is her ninth career MVC Diver of the Week honor.
Hailing from Hu Bei, China, Zhang showed why she is one of the best divers in the country, sweeping the one and three-meter dives against the Bears. In the one-meter dive, Zhang bested the field after she was awarded a score of 375.07. The junior kept her momentum going into the three-meter dive, defeating her competitors with a resounding score of 418.57, which was nearly 100 points higher than the second-place finisher.
Zhang and the rest of the SIU swimming and diving team return to action on Nov. 1, when the team travels to Bloomington, Ill, to face-off against Illinois State and the University of Illinois.
