Saluki Swimming and Diving gears up for weekend meet

CARBONDALE, Ill. - After a few weeks off from competition, the Southern Illinois swimming and diving teams head to Bloomington, Ill., for a meet against Illinois State and the University of Illinois on Saturday.
In their last outing, the Saluki women earned a big win over Missouri State, while the men dropped a razor thin decision to the Bears.
A solid combination of youth and veteran experience has been a major factor so far this season for the women's team. The freshmen duo of Bryn Handley and Kelsie Walker combined for five individual wins against MSU on Oct. 11.
Diver Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang has dominated the field this year, winning every event this year. She has been rewarded for efforts by earning two Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Diver of the Week awards.
On the men's team, Till Pallmann continues to have an outstanding junior campaign. Against the Bears, Pallmann racked up three individual wins. His performance earned him Mid-American Conference (MAC) Swimmer of the Week honors.
Kegan Skelton looks to add to his win total this weekend in the one and three-meter dive. The senior has led the men's diving team in every meet this season and looks to continue his hot start.
Following Saturday, SIU travels to Lexington, Ky., for a two-day meet Nov. 7-8. Along with the Salukis, the field comprises of Kentucky, Missouri, and Northwestern.
