CARBONDALE, Ill.- The Southern Illinois University swimming and diving teams are in action this weekend, as the they travel to Lexington, Ky., for a two-day competition on Friday and Saturday.
The meet will feature SIU's toughest competition (Kentucky, Missouri, and Northwestern) so far this season, and will give the Salukis the opportunity to showcase their talents to a bigger audience.
Freshmen Bryn Handley and Kelsie Walker have started the season strong for the women's team. The duo have finished at the top in almost every event that they have competed in.
The weekend competition will also give diver Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang the chance to show why she is one of the best in the nation. Zhang is coming off another sweep of the one and three-meter dive against Illinois State and the University of Illinois in her last outing. Her wins in the double dual earned her Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Diver of the Week honors for the third time this season.
After an extended break, the men's team returns to action looking to pickup from where they left off. Till Pallmann will lead the charge for the swimming team. The junior has been dominant for SIU, picking up five wins so far this season.
Kegan Skelton will look to add to his win total. Like Zhang, Skelton has also swept the one and three-meter dive in every meet this season.
Results will be made available after each day of competition.
