Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - SIU diver Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang was selected as a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced on Wednesday.
Zhang had a pair of record-breaking performances last weekend at the Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, winning the one-and three-meter dives, while breaking the total point records in each event that she set the previous season.
In the one-meter dive, Zhang recorded a score of 379.35, 33 points higher than the previous record. She followed that with an exemplary performance in the three-meter dive, tallying a score of 449.10 to break the MVC and Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium records.
Zhang was rewarded for her record-breaking weekend by earning her second consecutive MVC Diver of the Year honor.
Zhang's success carries over into the classroom as well, as she posted a 3.623 GPA last semester as a Radio, TV and Digital Media major.
