Men's Golf in 7th place after Day One at Pinetree Intercollegiate

The Southern Illinois men's golf team is in seventh place out of 11 teams after Day One at the Pinetree Intercollegiate on Monday in Kennesaw, Ga.Â
The Salukis got off to a great start on the first 18 holes of the day (292) and were sitting alone in second place, five strokes behind host and No. 32-ranked Kennesaw State (287). Southern could not maintain that pace in the second round (315) and enters tommorrow's final round at 31-over par. Meanwhile, Iowa State (4-over) surged to the tournament lead, vaulting two strokes ahead of Kennesaw State (6-over).
SIU's Peyton Wilhoit is having a superb tournament so far and is tied for fifth place at Even-par at the 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club. He matched his career best with a 68 in the first round.
