Handley wins MVC award for second time this season

CARBONDALE, ILL. – The Missouri Valley Conference selected Bryn Handley as this week's swimmer of the week this morning. This is the second time Handley has won the award this season.
The Saluki junior made a big impression against nationally ranked programs over the weekend at a quad meet in Lexington, Ky. SIU took on the University of Kentucky, the University of Missouri, and Northwestern University in a two-day meet. Over the course of the meet Handley competed in six different for the Dawgs, including the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay. Handley would finish the meet with two top-three finishes, and never outside the top-ten in any race. She would find most of her success in long distance events. Handley finished second in 1,000-yard freestyle, with a time of 10:07.80, and third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.26.
