CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Saluki women's basketball team will close out its 2017-18 preseason on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. as National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) member Lindenwood-Belleville visits the SIU Arena for the final exhibition contest of the season.
For Starters
Senior guard Kylie Giebelhausen returns to a lead a young Saluki squad that will feature three freshmen, six sophomores, two juniors and two seniors. Giebelhausen finished the season ranked in the top-10 of the Missouri Valley Conference in six statistical categories en route to earning All-MVC First Team honors.
The Opponent
A member of the American Midwest Conference (AMC), the Lynx were picked to finish fourth in the AMC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Lindenwood-Belleville went 22-10 a year ago and 18-6 in conference play. The Lynx advanced to the NAIA Division I tournament, where they lost to Vanguard (Calif.), 66-59, in the first round.
The Lynx return their leading scorer and rebounder from last year's team. Brianna Mueller returns after a freshman campaign in which she led Lindenwood-Belleville in scoring with a 15.5 points per game average and was named to the All-AMC First Team as well as NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, while Alison Webb earned a spot on the All-AMC Second Team after she led the Lynx with a 9.6 rebounds per game average.
MVC Preseason Poll
