The Salukis jumped two spots in the second round to a tie for 2^nd at the Cardinal Challenge in Beaumont, Texas today.

As a team, the Salukis shaved nine strokes off of the first round score by shooting a 303 today. SIU leapfrogged Indiana State and are tied with Missouri Valley Conference foe, Bradley. The Salukis had the second best score of the day. Only tournament host Lamar posted a lower score.

Junior Hanna Netisingha still leads the way for the Salukis. She shot a 74 in the second round and climbed to fourth on the individual leaderboard. Senior, Xianmei Jin shot a 75 and is in ninth place.

Senior Brooke Cusumano shot a 77 in the second round. It was the 70^th time in her career that she scored in the 70s. She now has the second most rounds in the 70s in the history of the Salukis women's golf program. Cusumano is tied for 10th at the tournament.

Freshman Erica Kerr provided a big boost to SIU's team score with her performance today. Kerr shaved six strokes off of her first round score with a 77 today.

Lamar leads the tournament with a two-round team score of 592. The Cardinals have a 23 stroke lead over Bradley and SIU. Lamar's Elodie Chaplet leads the tournament and is four strokes ahead of Netisingha.

The final round of the Cardinal Challenge will be played tomorrow.
