Freeman places ninth in the hammer throw at USATF Junior Outdoor Championships

Nikki Freeman finished ninth in the hammer throw at the 2017 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
Freeman's best mark came on her second attempt at 157'-10" (48.10m). The national high school leader in the shot put, UCLA signee Alyssa Wilson, won the hammer with a toss of 185'-11" (56.68m).Â
The soon-to-be sophomore from Fox River Grove, Ill. took 12th in the discus on day one of competition. Her performance at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships caps off a freshman outdoor campaign in which she scored in both the discus and the shot put at the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, including a fifth place finish in the discus.
Saluki alumna Jeneva Stevens throws the shot put tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. while recent Saluki graduates Freya Block (hammer throw) and Kyle Landon (high jump), as well as soon-to-be senior Jared Kern (shot put) compete on Sunday.Â
