Mercado named MAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

This is the first time he has earned the honor

Saluki sophomore diver Eli Mercado has been named as the Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for his performance against Evansville on Friday.

Mercado won the one and three-meter dives in the dual meet against MAC Conference foes Evansville. He set a personal best in the one-meter dive with a score of 290.17 and won the three-meter dive with a score of 249.00. The Hobart, Indiana native helped the Salukis to an 89-54 win over the Purple Aces.

Mercado has won three of the four dives he has competed in this year. This is the first time he has won a weekly honor from the MAC.
