Phillips named MAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

Sophomore swimmer Chris Phillips was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week today for his performance against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.
 The Lyons Township graduate swept up his four wins of the 2017-18 season against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday. Phillips led the Salukis to a 186-67 victory over the Tigers. Phillips set a new best time for the Salukis in the 200-yard freestyle this season in what was only his first time swimming the 200-free this year. He also won the 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard IM and was part of a relay team that won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.55.
 Eastern Michigan's Logan Burton was Phillips' fellow MAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for his performance against Ball State.
 This is the fourth time a Saluki Swimmer has won the award this season. Sophomore Diver Eli Mercado has earned the title twice and senior Michael Wolfe earned the weekly conference honor after his performance against Kentucky, Missouri and Northwestern.
