The Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America released its Scholar All-American Teams for fall 2017 semester, and both the Saluki men's and women's swimming and diving teams placed in the top-10 of Division I programs based on team GPA.
Â
The Saluki men's team GPA of 3.49 is fourth best in Division I behind Grand Canyon, Harvard and Alabama and the women's team's 3.64 cumulative GPA is ninth best. The Salukis are one of two swimming programs in Division I to place their men's and women's team inside the top-10; Grand Canyon University was the other program to do so. The Salukis are also the only Missouri Valley Conference program in the top-10 for the women and only Mid-American Conference program in the top-10 for the men.
Â
The men's team GPA was the highest since the spring semester of 2015 when it posted a 3.50 team GPA, the third best in the nation. This is the highest women's GPA since the fall of 2016, when the GPA was 3.65. The men's team GPA ranked inside the top-five percentile of all Division I programs and the women's team GPA was in the top-six percentile. In total, six MVC teams and four MAC teams earned Scholar All-America Team honors; the Salukis had the highest team GPA among their conference rivals.
Â
In order for a team to be eligible to be a Scholar All-America Team, it must have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Team grade point averages include all eligible varsity student-athletes.
