Welcome Back
• This will mark the first meeting between the Racers and the Salukis since Rechelle Turner took over as Racer head coach in 2017.
• Turner played at Murray State from 1991-94 and ran up against some of the best teams in Saluki women's basketball history.
• Turner was 0-6 versus the Salukis during her playing career.
• Turner (maiden name: Caldwell) shot 44% (11-of-25) from the field in her six career games against SIU and averaged 6.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
A Familiar Face
• SIU assistant coach Jody Adams makes her return to Murray State, where she was the head coach during the 2007-08 season and went 24-8.
• Murray State's 24 wins under Adams remains a program record for wins in a single-season and are tied for the seventh-most in a single-season in Ohio Valley Conference history dating back to 1977.
• The Racers also won the program's first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title under Adams which culminated in the program's first, and only, NCAA Tournament appearance.
SIU vs. the OVC

Compass Challenge Champs
• The Salukis defeated Eastern and Northern Illinois en route to being crowned the inaugural Compass Challenge champions.
• SIU shot a season-best 46.7% (14-of-30) from three-point range in the win over Northern- which were the most treys in a game in the Cindy Stein era and SIU's most since a January 5, 2013 win over Drake.
• Southern followed with a wire-to-wire win over Eastern to improve to 4-0 at home this season.
• Makenzie Silvey, who averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in SIU's two wins, was named Tournament MVP while Abby Brockmeyer and Kristen Nelson earned spots on the Compass Challenge All-Tournament Team.

Four-Straight Home Wins to open a season
• With SIU's wins over Northern and Eastern Illinois on Dec. 7-8, Southern improved to 4-0 at home this season.
• It marked SIU's first four game home-winning streak to open a season since the 1996-97 season.
Dishing out helpers
• Brittney Patrick set a career-high with 11 assists and did not record a turnover in 33 minutes of work in SIU's win over Northern Illinois on Dec. 7.
• Patrick became the first Saluki in nearly 33 years to record 10-plus assists without recording a turnover. Marialice Jenkins last accomplished the feat with 12 assists and zero turnovers in a 72-51 win over Indiana State on March 6, 1985.
• Patrick leads the Valley in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.19), assists (51) and assists per game (5.7) while her 3.19 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 16th nationally.
More on Patrick
• SIU has only once had a player lead the league in assists per game (Cartaesha Macklin, 2013) and Patrick's 3.19 assist-to-turnover ratio would be a school record.
• Southern has only once had a player finish a season with a 2.0 or higher assist-to-turnover ratio- Rishonda Napier set a program record with 145 assists to just 67 turnovers (2.16) during the 2017 season.
Active Streaks
• Brittney Patrick has recorded at least one steal in eight-straight games. It's the longest such streak since Kylie Giebelhausen recorded at least one takeaway in nine-straight games from Dec. 19, 2017- Jan. 19, 2018.
• Patrick has also dished out at least five assists in three-straight games- the longest streak for a Saluki since Rishonda Napier recorded at least five in three-straight in 2016.
• Cartaesha Macklin in 2013 was the last Saluki to dish out five-plus assists in four-straight games.
First Time for Everything
• Makenzie Silvey tied her career-high with seven rebounds in SIU's win over Eastern Illinois.
• It marked the first time in her 40 career games as a Saluki that she has led the team in rebounds.
Sharp Shooting
• Kristen Nelson shot 57.1% from three-point range in SIU's wins over NIU/EIU, including 6-of-8 (75%) from downtown in Southern's victory over Northern Illinois.
• Of the 35 times in which a Saluki has made at least six three-pointers in a single game, Nelson's eight attempts to net that many are tied for the fewest needed in program history.
• Her 75% shooting percentage was tied for the third-best in school history for a player that made at least six threes.
