Brittney understands what it takes to be a great teammate and part of a family. She led the team in assists (91) in the 2017-18 season and continues to lead the team in assists this season as well.
"My family has always taught me to work hard – as hard work is the basis for success," said Patrick. "I appreciate every opportunity, person, and skill that I encounter in my life."
Beginning in her freshman year, Brittney was a contributor to the Salukis. She showed early that season that she was going to be a great addition to the team when she had season highs versus Brescia. Those highs included eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
"Britt is a highly competitive and driven force," said women's basketball coach Cindy Stein. "She is a hig- energy defensive stopper that also leads our charge on offense."
Brittney excels on and off the court as she is an exceptional student earning the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award during the 2017-18 school year and Honor Roll in 2016-17.
"Britt is a hard worker on and off the court and takes great pride in her academic success," said Coach Stein.
Brittney continues to take advantage of each and every opportunity she gets to step on the court. During her sophomore year, she started 13 games; set a high career high in points (15), assists (8) and steals (4).
"Every opportunity I get … I will never take for granted," said Patrick.
This year Brittney has taken over the full time starting point guard position for the Salukis. Patrick currently leads the team in minutes played, assists, and steals. Patrick was also chosen as the team captain.
"She was selected by her teammates to be our captain which speaks volumes about the leadership she provides and how she makes our team better," Coach Stein. "She may be small in stature but she has a big presence for us as a part of our program."
Brittney continues to show her dedication to the team and shows her appreciation for this scholarship.
"It means the world to me that my dedication and hard work has not gone unnoticed," said Patrick. "Thank you so much and it is an honor to have received this scholarship."
