
Volleyball announces 2018 Summer Camp Dates

Camps are open to any and all applicants.
Second-year head coach Kari Thompson and her staff will host five different camps in June and July. For more information, see the below list of the SIU volleyball summer camp options.
All interested participants can fill out the registration form online or a hard copy can be downloaded here. Participants should be prepared to fill out a medical release form, found here. The deadline to register is one week prior to each camp's beginning date.

Day Clinic 1 | Positional Day Clinics | All Skills Camp | Team Camp | High Performance Camp
Youth Day Clinic – June 4-6, 2018 or July 9-11, 2018 | 8:30 am-11:30 am each day
The youth day clinic is camp open to any and all players from kindergarten through 7th grade. A fun camp to introduce and improve the fundamental skills of volleyball.
Cost: $100.00
Positional Day Clinics - June 4-6, 2018 or July 9-11, 2018 | Grades 6th through college freshman
Cost: $90.00 if participating in only one clinic/$75.00 if participating in more than one clinic
Each clinic focuses on an essential technique for becoming a successful volleyball player. Players do have the opportunity to participate in as many of the 4 clinics as they would like. If participating in more than one clinic, price per clinic is reduced to $75.00 per clinic.
Setting – 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm each day
Techniques for setters and non-setters: hand positions, posture, footwork and location.
Attacking – 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm each day
All aspects of attacking: arm swing mechanics, approach/transition footwork and position specific timing.
Defense/Blocking – 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm each day
Frontcourt and backcourt defense: posture, platform skills, eye sequence and footwork.
Serving & Passing – 6:30 pm -8:00 pm each day
Serving techniques and different types of serves along with serve receive and passing techniques and reps.
All Skills Camp - June 7-8, 2018 | Grades 6th through 12th
The All Skills Camp is for players who want to develop all the fundamental skills of volleyball and combine those skills into a competitive environment. Emphasizing individual skill, strategy, team concepts and competition. For those choosing the overnight option, housing, dinner on day 1 and breakfast/lunch/dinner on day 2 will be provided. For those choosing the commuter option, dinner will be provided on day 1 and only lunch and dinner will be provided on day 2.
Day 1 (June 7th):

- Dinner provided for all campers
- 6:00-8:00pm Session 2
Day 2 (June 8th):
- Breakfast provided for overnight campers
- 9:00am-Noon Session 3
- Lunch provided for all campers
- 1:30-4:30pm Session 4
- Dinner provided for all campers
- 6:00-8:00pm Session 5
- 8:00pm Check-Out
- Cost: $260 (Overnight)/$225 (Commuter)
Team Camp - July 13-14, 2018 | Varsity, junior varsity and jr. high teams
Saluki Team Camp is open to any and all girls' varsity, junior varsity, and junior high teams looking to take their team to the next level. A team can have between 8 and 10 players. Teams are provided a coach from our camp staff for a competitive experience to train and refine their skills as a team and as individuals. Our camp staff will work with the teams to make an individualized plan on how to improve team chemistry, be competitive, and learn how to win as a unit. We offer a few options to suit the needs of your team. Team training is offered on July 13th which is a combination of on court training and team building activities. July 14th will consist of individual positional training followed by a competitive full day tournament. At the end of this camp your team will be excited and on the way to being prepared for the upcoming season. Space is limited so reserve your spot today. Team registration is on a first come, first served basis. Meals and residential options are not provided.
**A full roster with name, grade and contact information will need to be provided at time of registration. The rosters may be provided in excel spreadsheet format and emailed to Leslie Brock at lagodwin@siu.edu. A medical release form will need to be provided for each participant.

July 14th Tournament with Positional Training Session
- 7:30am Check-in
- 8:00-9:00am Positional Training
- 9:00am – 8:00pm Tournament Play (Format determined by number of teams)
Cost: $750 (To participate in both Training/Team Building and Tournament Day)/$500 (To participate in Tournament Day ONLY)/$250 (To participate in Training/Team Building ONLY)
**A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due at the time of registration.
High Performance Camp - July 15-17, 2018 | Grades 9th through college freshman
The High Performance camp is geared toward the advanced player who is looking to be challenged at the highest level in an intense and competitive training environment. Individual skill training combined with team concepts and 6v6 play. For those choosing the overnight option, housing, dinner on day 1 and breakfast/lunch/dinner on day 2, as well as breakfast on day 3 will be provided. For those choosing the commuter option, only lunch and dinner will be provided on day 2.
