Netisingha named as the Arthur Ashe Jr. female athlete of the year in golf

Senior golfer Hannah Netisingha was named as the Arthur Ashe Jr. female athlete of the year in golf by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education Magazine.
Recipients of the award must keep a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2, be at least a sophomore, and be active on their universities campus. Netisingha was one of nearly 1,000 nominees this year and was the sole recipient of the award in collegiate women's golf. Other winners based on their respective sport hailed from universities such as Duke, Illinois, West Virginia and Louisville.
Along with being co-captain of the Women's Golf team, she has interned with The Athlete Network and volunteers at St. Francis Animal Shelter in Murphysboro, Ill.
Netisingha had six top-10 finishes, including a tournament win at the Chi-Town Classic in October and was awarded the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week twice this season.
Netisingha will graduate in May with a degree in Zoology and plans to pursue a post-graduate veterinary degree.
