With the NCAA swimming season winding down, the Salukis are in what could be their final week of competition. For the swimmers, a select few will close out their season at the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of American National Invitational Championships in Annapolis, Maryland. For the team's divers, they will compete at the NCAA Zone Diving Meet in Columbus, Ohio.
Â
For the team's divers, sophomores Beibei Ji, Baobao Ji and Eli Mercado and senior Rachel Williams all earned inclusion to the first step of the NCAA Championships diving qualification procedure. To qualify, women's divers must place in the top-eight places of the one-meter dive or in the top-10 of the three-meter dive. Beibei, Baobao and Williams will all compete in the one meter-dive; Williams will not compete in the three-meter dive. Mercado qualified for both the one and three-meter dives.
Â
The Saluki divers will compete against divers from top programs in the nation like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Kentucky, Michigan and Indiana.
Â
At the CSCAA National Invitational, five women's swimmers and one male will compete at what is college swimming's version of the NIT. To qualify for the meet, Division I swimmers must either win and individual or relay conference championship or qualify based on a set of time standards established by the CSCAA.
