15 Salukis named MVC Scholar-Athletes

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Missouri Valley Conference announced today that 15 Southern Illinois women's swimmers and divers were named to the league's Scholar-Athlete team. SIU's 15 selections were the most in the eight-team conference.
Out of the 15 honorees, two swimmers received the accolade for the first time, eight for the second time and five for the third time.
In order to achieve Scholar-Athlete status, an athlete must have competed at least one year and met one of the three following criteria's.
• Hold a 3.2 cumulative GPA and make the MVC All-Conference team.
• Hold a 3.5 cumulative GPA and finish top-16 in an individual event at the MVC Championships.
• Hold a 3.8 cumulative GPA and participate at the MVC Championships.
