CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University celebrated its 150th birthday on March 6 and commemorated the event with #SIUDAY — the third-annual SIU Day of Giving. The University raised an all-time high of more than $909,000 during #SIUDAY. Athletics led the campus in giving with $202,123 raised.
"It was an unbelievable day not only for the institution but for Saluki Athletics," said Associate Athletic Director/Chief Revenue Officer Jason Fairfield. "We are proud to keep Athletics at the forefront for fundraising with bringing in more than $150,000 in honor of 150 years of SIU."
On the Day of Giving, Athletics provided options for both individual-sport giving and the Saluki Athletic Scholarship Fund. The SASF is the department's annual fund and provides scholarship money for student-athletes.
"Our donors stepped up again – continuing to do a fantastic job of supporting SIU," said Director of Athletics Jerry Kill. "Each donation helps us get better and we need our donors to continue to lead us."
