The Southern Illinois baseball team hosts preseason OVC favorites Morehead State for a three-game series at Itchy Jones Stadium. The Eagles are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance, and the Salukis are 10-2 in their last 12 games against unranked teams.

Southern Illinois hosts preseason OVC favorite Morehead State for a three-game series at Itchy Jones Stadium this year.
After Friday's game, the program's annual fish fry and memorabilia auction will take place at the Carbondale Civic Center. Featured items for auction include baseballs signed by more than 20 Hall of Famers and tickets to St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and St. Louis Blues games. Golf packages at Dalhousie Golf Club, TBC Southwind, Victoria National Golf Club, and more are also available.
Friday's game will be streamed nationally through ESPN+, marking SIU's first national broadcast of the year. Fifteen of the final 20 home games will be streamed nationally on The Valley on ESPN.
Saturday's game will be "Bark in the Park." Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs, and dogs will receive a free treat.
Morehead State was an NCAA Tournament team last yearand won 37 games. This year, the Eagles are off to a 16-5 start and have won six-straight games coming into the weekend. Morehead ranks eighth nationally in batting average and 11th in scoring.
SIU ranks fifth nationally in stolen bases (56) and fourth in stolen bases per game (2.95).
Ian Walters leads the nation in sacrifice flies (5). As a team, SIU ranks second in the nation in sac flies (16).
Brad Harrison, SIU's Friday starter, will be given a week of rest due to arm fatigue.
Trey McDaniel ranks eighth nationally with six saves.
