Saluki Swimming and Diving announces dates for Rick Walker’s Celebration/Alumni Weekend

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University swimming and diving program has set the dates for their Alumni Weekend that will include a celebration of longtime head coach Rick Walker.
Walker, who retired this past season after 32 years at SIU, will be honored on Friday, Sept. 13. The day will begin with Saluki swim practice and a meet and greet with current student-athletes at 4 p.m. inside Edward J. Shea Nataroium, followed by a retirement celebration for Walker at Blue Sky Vineyard at 7 p.m.
The annual Alumni Swim meet is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. A Q & A with current head coach Geoff Hanson will follow at 11 a.m. The day's festivities will continue with a tailgate and a Roast of Rick Walker from 3- 6 p.m.
Fans are then encouraged to attend SIU's football game vs. UT Martin at 6 p.m. All tickets for former student-athletes are free. Additional tickets for the football game for non student-athletes are $10.
