CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Southern Illinois men's golf program is tied for 11th place through two rounds of the Bearcat Invitational at Coldstream Country Club. Louisville leads the 13-team field by 13 strokes heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Southern combined to shoot 17-over par, but shaved five strokes off their first round score of 295 by carding a 290 team mark in round two. Tied with SIU in 11th is Lamar.

Frankie Thomas once again rose to the occasion, as he led the Salukis in the individual standings. The senior fired a 69 (-2) in round one to insert himself at eighth overall out of the 75-man field. It was the third-straight tournament that Thomas shot in the 60's in the opening round. He is now tied for fourth in school history in career rounds in the 60's with eight. He finished Day One tied for 13th at 1-under par after carding a 72 (+1) in round two.

Sophomore Matthis Besard (+2) shot even-par in round two to move up 10 spots. He heads into the final round at a tie for 24th. Vikar Jonasson (+15) struggled early with a round one total of 85 (+14), but rebounded with a 72 (+1) in round two. The 13-stroke improvement was a tournament best.

Southern will be back in action tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET for the final round of the Bearcat Invite. Live scoring can be found here.
