Kluge named MAC Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND — Southern Illinois senior Kevin Kluge was named Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for the first time in his collegiate career, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.Â
Kluge won a team-best two individual events in Southern's dual-meet win over Henderson State last Saturday. The Aurora, Ill. native topped the podium in the 500-yard freestyle and 1000-yard freestyle with times of 4:43.92 and 9:43.84. He also swam the third leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.16), which placed second overall.Â
On the season, Kluge has tallied five victories and holds MAC top-five times in the 1000-free and 1650-yard freestyle.Â
