12 Salukis earn Academic All-MAC honors

CLEVELAND — Twelve members of the Southern Illinois men's swimming and diving program were selected to the Mid-American Conference Academic All-MAC team, the league announced today.Â
The team was made up 44 student-athletes from the five men's programs in the conference. Kai Hoffmann-Dussome and Zheng Yang Yeap were the lone two student-athletes in the conference with a 4.0 grade point average. SIU's 12 honorees tied with Miami (OH) for the most in the conference. Â
Out of the 12 Saluki honorees, three received the accolade for the first time, two for the second time, and seven for the third time. It was the third-straight year the team tabbed 10-plus selections.Â
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least fifty percent of the contests for that particular sport.
