
Track and Field Heads to Louisville

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University track and field program is returning to the track this weekend to partake in the Clark Wood Open, hosted by the University of Louisville on April 23-24 at the Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park track stadium.
Friday's field events get underway at 11 a.m. with the men's javelin, followed by the women at 12 p.m. Also competing in Friday's rolling schedule of field events include the pole vault, hammer throw, long jump, shot put and high jump. Running events will start at 4:30 p.m. with the women's 800-meter, followed by the men. Running events that will also be competing on the first day of the Clark Wood Open include the 200-meter, 400-meter hurdles and the 5000-meter.
Day two kicks off with the men and women's javelin throw beginning at 11 a.m. before ending with the men's long jump, which is slated to begin around 5 p.m. Running events are set to start at 12 p.m. with the men and women's 100-meter dash preliminaries before concluding with the men and women 4x400-meter relays, which are set to start around 4:10 p.m.
The field of teams set to compete this weekend include two men's teams who rank in the UTSFCCCA TRFI Top-25 list in Tennessee (13th) and Butler (21st). The full list of competing teams includes Bellarmine, Bowling Green, Butler, Central Michigan, Cincinnati,
DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Kentucky State, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Loyola-Chicago, Memphis, MTSU, Murray State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
