
Salukis Back on the Road for Indoor Music City Challenge

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University track and field teams continue their indoor season this weekend when they travel to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in the Indoor Music City Challenge.
Meet Information
The Indoor Music Challenge will be hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m. C.T. with the women's high jump event. The competition will continue on Saturday, February 12th, at 9:30 a.m C.T.

Last Time Out
The Salukis are coming off a home weekend where the team competed in the Don DeNoon Invite at the SIU Rec Center.
Elisia Lancaster placed second in the women's weight throw with her mark of 21.19m. Lancaster has found the podium in all four meets so far this indoor season, and she currently ranks 6th in the NCAA for the weight throw event. Britney Mosby won the women's triple jump event with a mark of 11.06m. Omar Rodgers took home a pair of wins in the 60m hurdles (8.44) and the 400m dash (50.73). Freshman Josh Delgado captured his first win of the season in the men's 1 mile (4:32.61), while Corey Sherrod gave the Salukis another win in the men's 200m dash with his time of 22.33. Cole Targgart was finally able to punch through and capture his first win of the season in the men's shot put (16.96m). Rachel Anderson (2:17.58) got her first win of the 2022 indoor season by finishing 1st in the women's 800m run. A'veun Moore-Jones won the women's shot put in thrilling fashion. Her final toss of the finals registered in at 57'8.25" (17.58m). That mark was an indoor personal best for Moore-Jones, and places her 3rd all-time in the SIU record books. Moore-Jones currently ranks 5th in the NCAA for the women's shot put. Sophomore Iaunia Pointer was able to win the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.54. She currently sits at third in the MVC for that event. Iaunia Pointer and A'veun Moore-Jones performances at the Don DeNoon earned them MVC Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second straight week on Tuesday.
