Salukis open indoor season at Badgers Midwest Invite

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's track and field program will begin the 2023 indoor season on Saturday, January 14 at The Badgers Midwest Invite in Chicago.
"I'm excited to finally get to compete," Richard Jones, Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, said. "I now have to watch from a different lens (as a director), but the feeling is still the same. The entire team had a good week of training and bonding. This will be a good first test against solid competition."
The meet will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center in Chicago. Along with Wisconsin and Southern Illinois, the other three schools that will be competing in the meet are Purdue, Illinois, and Wisconsin Milwaukee.Â
The events start at 11:45 a.m. with the men's weight throw, women's pole vault, and the men and women's high jump. The national anthem will take place at 2:15 p.m., and the final event of the day, the 4x400 meter relay (men, two heats), will be at 6:35 p.m.
