Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois is back at Davies Gym for another weekend of Valley matches. The Salukis are currently on a three-match winning streak as Murray State and Belmont comes to Carbondale.Â

The Salukis have won three-straight after taking down Missouri State on Monday. Prior to the win on Monday, SIU took down Indiana State and Evansville in four-sets to open conference play at Davies.Â

Five Salukis had season-highs in SIU's win over Missouri State - Imani Hartfield (11 kills // 9 digs), Cecilia Bulmahn (24 digs), Ema Stermenska (33 assists), Annabelle Sulish (19 kills), and Nataly Garcia (20 kills).

Three Salukis currently rank in the top-25 of the MVC in kills per set - Nataly Garcia (3.42//6th), Annabelle Sulish (3.07//14th) Tatum Tornatta (2.48//22nd).

Seniors Tatum Tornatta and Nataly Garcia both surpassed the 1000-career kill mark in SIU's win over Missouri State becoming the 26th and 27th Salukis to hit the milestone.

Series History

There have been 23 previous meetings between Southern Illinois and Murray State dating back to the 1975 season. The Salukis lead the series 19-4 including a pair of wins in 2022. The Salukis opened MVC play a year ago with a five-set in Murray before sweeping the Racers when they came to Carbondale.

The Salukis and Bruins have met just three times prior with two of the matches coming a year ago in Belmont's first season in the Valley. SIU has a 2-1 lead in the series with Belmont winning the initial matchup in 2006 and the Dawgs sweeping the series last year in a four-set win and five-set win.Â
