Celia Pulido Named MVC Swimmer of the Week

ST. LOUIS – SIU's Celia Pulido , was named the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. The honor marks the third of her career.

This past weekend during the A3 Performance Invitational junior Celia Pulido broke the school record in the 100 fly with a time 53.67. Pulido had seven first place finishes across the meet in the finals sessions. She competed in the 200-freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 800 freestyle relay and the 200 backstroke. Pulido was also a part of the 200-freestyle relay that broke the school record (1:32.38) and the 400 freestyle relay that broke the school record as well (3:22.50).

Pulido has had top three finishes at each meet this season. She also now holds four program records at Southern Illinois.

Celia will travel with the Salukis to West Lafayette, Indiana to compete at the Purdue Invitational Nov. 16-18.
