Preview | Salukis Face Off With Belmont in MVC Quarterfinal

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois starts postseason action Monday, November 20 as the Salukis head to Springfield, Mo. for the MVC Tournament. SIU enters the tournament as the no. 4 seed for the second-straight season, earning themselves a first-round bye.Â
Following Belmont's four-set win over Valparaiso, the Salukis will now take on the no. 8 seeded Bruins for the third time this season. The Salukis and Bruins split the season series as SIU won in Nashville while Belmont picked up a five-set victory in Carbondale.Â
Entering the tournament, Southern has won its last seven matches, marking the program's longest winning streak since 2015 when it won nine-straight. The Salukis will look to make their first MVC Tournament Semifinal appearance since 2015 and pick up the program's first postseason win since 2013.
The winner will go on to play no. 1 seed and reigning MVC champions UNI Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM CT.Â
