Braden Hoisington Leads SIU at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

Salukis take 11th place in first event of 2023 spring schedule.
Sophomore Braden Hoisington shot 1-under-par 71 to finish tied for 22nd at even par as the Southern Illinois men's golf team wrapped up play on Tuesday at the Bayou Collegiate Classic in Houston, Texas. The Salukis improved throughout the event at the Westwood Golf Club, carding rounds of 296, 295, and 291 to finish 11th overall with a total score of 882 (+18).
Sophomore Carsen Silliman carded rounds of 72, 75, and 72 for a score of three-over-par, tied for 36th place. Senior Andrew Thornton fired a team-low 70 on the final day of play with four birdies to finish tied for 38th at four-over-par. Graduate Tom Cleaton tied for 71st place at 11-over-par and junior Hugo Archer tied for 82nd at 16-over-par.Â

Southern Illinois travels to Goodyear, Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate at the Palm Valley Golf Club on Sunday, February 26.
