Women’s Golf Finish Sixth at Texas State Invitational

The Saluki women's golf team took fifth place at the 2023 Texas State Invitational, which finished Tuesday with 18-holes at Plum Creek Golf Club in Kyles, Texas. SIU closed out the invitational with a score of 913 (+61).
Freshman Ella Overstreet led the Salukis with a Top-15 finish, firing rounds of 73-80-70 to tie for 13th at 11-over par. Junior Janie Samattiyadeekul (+12) carded her best round in the closing day, shooting 71 to tie for 16th overall. Senior Secilia Ho shot a 75 in the final round to take 18th (+13). Sophomore Kylee Vaughan finished tied for 41st (+28) and senior Ayanna Habeel took 47th with a score of 245 (+32).
Junior Adriana Vinterova, competing as an individual, played her best round on Tuesday shooting 77 to finish at 44th. Sophomore Morgan Gindler also played as an individual and finished in 48th (+33).

The Salukis return to Carbondale, Illinois to prepare for The Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas on Monday, February 20.
