
Track & Field Heads to Nashville for Music City Challenge

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Track & Field Program is headed to Nashville for the Music City Challenge this Friday and Saturday.
This will be one of the Salukis final opportunities to compete against power five opponents this indoor season. Last weekend the Salukis traveled to New York and competed well at the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open.
"This portion of the season is one of our final attempts competing against quality competition from around the country. Running against teams from the SEC and other Power 5 conferences will prepare us for conference," said Director of Track and Field & Cross Country Richard Jones.
The meet will be hosted by Vanderbilt inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. The meet will have competitors from 48 different schools.
Friday's events will begin at 11AM with the men's weight throw and the men's and women's high jump. The first running event on Friday will be the women's mile run which starts at 5 PM. Saturday's first event is the women's 3000M Run at 9AM. The final event of the meet, the men's 4X400M Relay will be at 4:15PM
"We have been breaking school records and posting top 10 school marks every meet this season and we are excited to see what results we get this weekend as well," Jones said.
