Salukis Finish Day 1 of National Competitions

CARBONDALE, ILL. - The Southern Illinois swimming and diving program wraps up Day 1 of the National Invitational Championship and NCAA Zone C Diving Championship. Celia Pulido recorded the top finish for the Saluki swimmers finishing fifth in the women's 50 Backstroke, and Lee Haywood competed well for the Saluki divers.Â

50 Backstroke: Celia Pulido (25.33, 6th place), Lucia Romero (25.98, 25th place)
50 Breaststroke: Olivia Herron (28.81, T-15th place), Mima Zaborska (29.06, 28th place), Ali Robertson (29.30, 39th place)
200 IM: Olivia Herron (2:02.75, 16th place)
500 Freestyle: Karen Rodriguez (5:02.91, 62nd place)
400 Medley Relay: Lucia Romero, Mima Zaborska, Karen Rodriguez, Celia Pulido (3:45.59, 10th place)
Men:
50 Backstroke: Adam Cernek (22.95, T-26th place)
50 Freestyle: Alex Santiago (20.50, T-16th place), Donat Csuvarszki (20.59, T-28th place)
50 Breaststroke: Tiago Faleiros (25.36, 22nd place)
50 Butterfly: Nicolas Lanuza (21.92, 25th place)
