MVC Championship

WATERLOO, IL. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team wrapped up the 2023 season Tuesday afternoon with a 10th place finish at the MVC Championship.

Missouri State took home the team championship, winning with a three-round score of 943. It's the Bears first title since 2018. Evansville (952), Belmont (952), Murray State (953), Illinois State (956), Drake (960), Bradley (966), Indiana State (973), and Northern Iowa (976) finished above the Salukis' 979. UIC (982) and Valparaiso (1008) round out the dozen schools in the conference.

Janie Samattiyadeekul led the Dawgs with a final-round 77 which landed her inside the top-10 to finish tied for ninth place. She carded 4 birdies and 7 pars to finish 5 over par on the final day.

Secilia Ho, SIU's second-best finisher for the entirety of the weekend, ended her tournament tied for 14th place with a final-round 80. She recorded birdies on holes 6 and 11 in round three.

Ella Overstreet shot a weekend-best 80 over her final 18 holes, in a round that consisted of 12 pars. She finished the tournament in 55th place. This concludes an impressive season for the Freshmen.

Ayanna Habeel shot a 85 in her final round, including 7 pars and a birdie on hole 3. She finishes the championship tied for 46th place.

The fifth golfer for the Salukis was Kylee Vaughan, who finished tied for 50th overall behind her final round of 85. She carded 6 pars and birdied hole 3 in the final round.
