Madi Eberle, who made the start and threw a complete game for the Dawgs, gave up her first earned run of the game in the fifth inning on a softly hit liner down the right field line to make it a 2-0 game. Anna Carder and the Salukis answered in the bottom half of the inning as Carder blasted a ball off the scoreboard in right field to tie the game at 2-2. Carder now has four home runs on the season, third-most on the Salukis.Â
Bradley came back in the sixth with a two-out rally to add on two more runs and retake the lead 4-2. SIU threatened in the bottom of inning once again and got a run across on a walk by Jackie Lis but Bradley got out of the inning with the bases loaded and a one-run lead. The Salukis left 10 runners on base on the day despite finishing with 10 hits as well.Â
Rylie Hamilton led the Salukis as she went 3-for-4 on the day with a trio of singles. It was the 14th time this season that Hamilton has two or more hits in a game this year.
The Salukis will look to bounce back from their first loss at Charlotte West Stadium tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM for game two of the series before concluding the weekend on Sunday at noon.Â
