
Recap | Saluki women shine on day two of John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. - Southern Illinois track and field wrapped up its weekend with an impressive showing by the women's team on Saturday at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University.
Trinity Cleaver and Keyann Wilson came out strong early, both reaching the finals of the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash, respectively. Shortly after, the Salukis made their presence felt in the women's 200-meter dash by placing four of the top 34 finishers out of 158 total competitors.Â
Iaunia Pointer continued her dominance in the record books after a second place finish. Her time of 23.78 is third in school-history behind her own, two personal records. Trinity Cleaver placed 13th and set a personal record with a time of 24.96. Teanna Bell (25.00) placed 14th to give the Salukis three finishers in the top 14. Keyann Wilson finished 34th with a time of 25.76.
Rachel Anderson broke another school record in the 3000-meter run Saturday, breaking her previous record by more than 16 seconds.Â
Vashti Grey, Pointer, Bell and Christina Rene combined for a season-best finish in the 1600 relay, posting a time of 3:48.15.
Jadon Robertson finished second in the men's heptathlon at the IUPUI Invitational, which included wins in the long jump, high jump, and 60-meter hurdles.Â
"These types of road trips are always challenging,"Â SIU Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Richard Jones said. "I'm glad the men and women responded well. Going to these meets builds confidence as we switch into the second phase of the season."

The Salukis will compete in the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday, February 2, in Louisville, Ky.
