Preview | Salukis ready to battle at Music City Challenge

CARBONDALE, Ill. -Â Southern Illinois track and field will look to create positive momentum at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University.
The two-day event will begin Friday with field events at 10:30 a.m. and running events at 4:30 p.m.
Joining the Salukis in the meet are: Alabama-Huntsville, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Auburn, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Belmont, Bethel (Tenn.), Capital, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Cumberland, University of the Cumberlands, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, FIU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, High Point, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Lee (Tenn.), Lipscomb, Marion Military Institute, McNeese State, Meridian Community College, Miami (Ohio), Milligan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Murray State, New Orleans, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southeastern U (Fla.), Southern Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UCF, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Xavier.

The Salukis have shown improvement each and every week, and the Bellarmine Classic was no exception.
Christian Coleman, Daryl Okeke and Nikyan Hodge gave Southern Illinois three of the top six finishers in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Shortly after, the Salukis placed three in the top eight of the women's 60-meter dash thanks to Iaunia Pointer, Shavell Riley and Keyann Wilson.
Xavier Preston won the men's 200-meter dash, his second victory of the indoor season.
